East Africa Field School ROTC Scholarship Opportunity
WHAT: Offered through James Madison University, Project GO’s East Africa Field School is a full scholarship opportunity for ROTC students from any accredited university or college in the United States. The program includes 8 weeks and 12-credit hours, and consists of travel, cultural immersion and language study in Zanzibar and Tanzania. For any level of Swahili student (including beginner), this program will expand your ability to understand, speak, read, and write Swahili while also developing crucial cultural and geographical expertise about East Africa. The full scholarships are available to qualifying ROTC students after a competitive application process. The Project GO scholarship covers: airfare, tuition, room and board, program fees, admission fees, visa, in-region travel expenses. The participant is responsible for passport, vaccinations and miscellaneous personal expenses while traveling.
WHO: To be eligible, applicants must be:
- U.S. Citizen
- Matriculated in an undergraduate degree program located within the United States accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Contracted or non-contracted AROTC, AFROTC, NROTC student on track to commission through ROTC from any university or college in the U.S.
- Members of the ROTC must remain matriculated in their undergraduate programs for the duration of the scholarship; participants may not graduate until the scholarship is complete
- Not employed, including unpaid internships, by the U.S. Federal Government or any foreign government while receiving Project GO funding
