Program Information:

Study and Intern this summer in beautiful Scotland. Enjoy long days, Scottish festivals, friendly locals, and a castle and golf course on campus! Take your study abroad experience to the next level and gain a better understanding of Scottish culture and society with the endless internship opportunities.

Here are some things to expect while on this unique program:
  • Traditional Scottish city - Stirling is considered a bit more authentic than other Scottish cities due to its smaller size. You'll instantly notice the centuries-old architecture as you stroll the city streets and appreciate people moving at a reasonable pace, allowing you to take it all in. Historic yet modern, small-city environment with big international presence, and just an hour away from other major Scottish cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh.

  • Experience outside of the classroom - Each course has experiential excursions integrated to complement your coursework. Not to mention, our social and cultural activities will take you to amazing locations in Stirling and beyond!

  • Shift your focus halfway through - Start the summer by taking two courses of your choosing, after which you'll dive into your internship. This allows you to have adapted to your new surroundings before taking on the new, fun challenge of interning in your new home.

Location:
Known as the Gateway to the Highlands, Stirling sits just south of the Scottish Highlands, situated around a large fortress and has a wonderful old town feel. It is an ancient fortress city with a long and colorful history. William Wallace (aka Braveheart), Scotland's national hero, famously defeated the English here at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. It’s the country’s capital for government, higher education and retail, making it an ideal place to study abroad.

With a population of 35,000, Stirling offers all you could want in a city—theater, pubs, restaurants, clubs—in a small, safe environment. And it’s easily accessible from the campus by regular bus service. Should you want to get away on the weekend, there is hourly train service to Edinburgh (45 minutes one way) and Glasgow (30 minutes one way), and from either of those major cities you can find inexpensive flights to other European destinations.
