Program Information:

Our Semester in South Africa offers you an amazing college experience in an exotic destination, studying at Stellenbosch University. Ideally situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, the University is also at the core of Stellenbosch, the country’s oldest college town.  You will enjoy a Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and mild winters in a melting pot of cultures and languages.

Here are some things to expect while on this unique program:
  • Classes in South Africa’s oldest college town – Stellenbosch University is recognized as one of the four top research universities in South Africa, and the University's professors are internationally acclaimed.

  • A land of adventure – Many regard South Africa as the adventure capital of the world.  Are you interested in the highest bungee jump on the planet, diving with great white sharks, or making a safari to see the Big 5?

  • Clubs and student organizations – You can debate South African politics with the Political Club, learn to sail with the yacht club, or take up Rugby. If you’re a go-getter and you don’t find a campus club that suits you, you can start your own.

Location and Academics:
Stellenbosch has a comfortable population of just over 110,000, giving it a city-feel without feeling crowded.  However, if you ever want a faster pace, all the excitement of Cape Town is only a quick 30-minute bus ride away!

While at Semester in South Africa you'll find a beautiful, safe campus with many international students. You will have the opportunity to take innovative courses taught by highly qualified professors, immerse yourself in a new culture, and make friends from around the world.  Study in your major in over 150 departments divided into 10 faculties including Science, Education, Law, Engineering and more!
