Study Abroad with CEA in San José, Costa Rica

This program is designed for students of all language levels who wish to become more comfortable with the Spanish language, and be immersed into the Costa Rican culture of peace, democracy and environmental preservation. Regardless of the chosen subject area, this program will provide a comprehensive base in the liberal arts, while giving the opportunity to gain further insight into the identity of Latin America today.

Experience San José

The capital city of Costa Rica, San José boasts about 1.4 million people and is situated in the Central Valley – guarded by majestic volcanoes and tropical rainforests. The city also is just a few hours away from the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. San José is considered the cradle of Costa Rica's 186-year-old democracy, and the country has not had a standing army since 1948. Costa Rica takes great pride in the fact that it has more teachers than policemen. Its former President, Oscar Arias, received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987.
