The Spanish Language & Culture Program offers you the opportunity to improve your language skills and learn more about Spanish culture. Language courses focus on oral comprehension and expression, listening comprehension, and grammar components appropriate to your language level. Depending on your level, you will register in Spanish Conversation or Spanish Culture & Civilization to further your language skills. Language courses are taken with other international students. You may choose to put your language studies to the test at the end of the semester by enrolling for the internationally recognized DELE, the official exam of Spanish as a foreign language, or expand your work experience onsite by registering in our internship program.

Experience Alicante

Located in southeastern Spain, the historic Mediterranean port of Alicante is the principal city of Spain's world-renowned Costa Blanca. Alicante is built around a natural harbor, and Mount Bencantil – topped by the iconic Santa Barbara Castle – towers more than 550 feet above the city. Almost 335,000 residents call Alicante home; the city's economy is based largely on tourism to the beaches of Costa Blanca. Explore life Alicante-style while strolling down the palm-lined promenade of Esplanada de España, enjoying tapas at one of Alicante's many outdoor cafes, wandering through the eclectic boutiques and shops in the city center, and discovering Costa Blanca's blue-water beaches.

Get involved in Alicante culture during an exciting week of parades, food, and live music in the streets as you celebrate Hogueras de San Juan, originally a celebration of the Summer Solstice. Join the 300,000 locals who participate in the one-day pilgrimage to the Monastery de Santa Faz, Spain's second-largest pilgrimage. Alicante also hosts a multitude of other cultural activities including Carnaval, Holy Week, the Medieval Market, the Alicante Film and International Jazz Festival, and many more.
