Language and Culture in Toledo Summer Program at the Fundación José Ortega y Gasset
Toledo, Spain
If you want to immerse yourself in Spanish language and culture, you'll find tremendous opportunities at the Fundación José Ortega y Gasset, located in the beautiful medieval city of Toledo. You'll find offerings in such areas as Spanish language, literature, history and politics, ethnology, and art history. There is also the possibility to complete an internship.
Your classroom studies will come to life through a variety of regularly scheduled field excursions and museum visits. You'll be able to enroll in two or three, three-credit courses, for a total of 6–9 credits. Because daily use of spoken Spanish is emphasized across the program and all courses are taught in Spanish, minimum admissions qualifications require that you have completed at least four semesters of post-secondary level Spanish.
The Fundación is located in the heart of the old city of Toledo. Besides being conveniently situated less than one hour south of Madrid, Toledo represents one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world. The city is a wonderful classroom filled with ancient mosques, Gothic and Mudéjar churches, Romanesque and Visigothic structures, and Renaissance palaces.
