Summer Graduate Study in Edinburgh, Scotland

EdinburghSummerThe short-term, intensive programs of the Scottish Universities International Summer School (SUISS) run for three weeks and award three semester hours of credit each at either the undergraduate or graduate level. Three courses are available: two in British literature and one in Creative Writing. If you are interested in extending your stay, it is possible to start with British Literature 1900-45 and stay on to take either Creative Writing or British Literature 1945-Present.

The Creative Writing course provides experience in a variety of genres, including fiction, poetry, drama and writing for the screen and for children. You'll benefit from an excellent opportunity to sharpen your creative writing skills through workshops and seminars conducted by respected Scottish writers, as well as participation in the world-famous Edinburgh International Book Festival.Whether you are taking Creative Writing or British Literature you can expect a lot of activities outside of class. You'll enjoy readings by leading Scottish writers, participation in traditional Scottish folk singing and storytelling, and motor tours that explore the Scottish countryside. Your stay in Edinburgh will also coincide with several world-renowned arts festivals – the Edinburgh International Festival, the Fringe Festival, and the International Book Festival. During this time, Edinburgh plays host to a roster of world-renowned authors, as well as an immense variety of dance, music, theater and mime productions, and arts exhibitions.
