Summer Study at Arcadia in Sicily
The Arcadia Sicily Center offers four summer programs from which to choose. Combined with academic fieldtrips (included in the program fee and an integral part of the program in Sicily), students are enabled to explore the diversity of the Mediterranean World from a unique perspective and experience the richly varied culture of this fascinating island.
Course Options
- Archaeological Field Study in Italy
Students will spend three weeks working on site, recording their findings in multifunctional classrooms at the Arcadia Sicily Center, discussing the main issues of field archaeology and engaging in cutting edge digital archaeology.
- Marine Preservation in Italy
Students will take part in an intense program in marine biology and conservation of marine ecosystem in collaboration with The Marine Protected Area of Plemmirio, a few kilometers south of Siracusa (Sicily) and the marine-protected area of Marettimo one of most beautiful Aegadian islands of west coast of Sicily.
- Business Administration Internship Program in Italy
Students will assist in research and development, finance and investment plans, sales, field study and marketing strategies while developing your Italian language skills. This program is available for undergraduate and graduate students in any academic discipline.

Arcadia Advantage
Upon arrival, you will meet Arcadia staff; participate in a comprehensive orientation, and move into your housing. All students enrolling in the Arcadia program in Syracuse will be expected to attend orientation. At this time, academic contracts are signed, expectations are established, basic cultural differences are explained, and practical matters such as internet access, cell phone service, banking, health and safety, rules of conduct, housing issues and emergency contact information are discussed.
