CIEE Summer History and Memory Multi-Site Program in Berlin, Germany and Paris, France
Spend the summer studying abroad in Berlin and Paris, examining the impact of turbulent, disquieting, and at times, cataclysmic histories on the present and future of these two fascinating European capitals.

Through coursework, film study, and exploration of memorials and public space, you’ll investigate themes of pride, shame, and memory and their role in the contemporary politics and society of both countries.

  • Use the city’s architecture and public spaces to explore what is saved, erased, and honored on the German landscape
  • Explore Parisian monuments and museums, contemporary media and sites where history was made and is now remembered
  • Take advantage of day-long and weekend trips to neighboring cities and sites
