New Media in Prague

This is a program for artists who work in new and diverse media such as video installation, conceptual artworks, experimental documentary, expanded-to-database cinema, intermedia performance or interactive work. Students take courses at the renowned Film and Television School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). They explore the Prague arts scene, and exhibit their work at a local gallery. This is a small, highly selective program, and one of the only ones designed specifically for new media or intermedia artists.

Study Abroad in Prague, Czech Republic: Features

  • Based at Center for Audio Visual Studies, the art school within FAMU.
  • Installations with interactive video, locative and mobile media, code-based projects, multi-channel and multi-threaded sound and images.
  • Hands-on mentorship and critique sessions with FAMU faculty and visiting artists.
  • Courses taught in English. There is no language prerequisite.
  • Previous experience with New Media is required.
  • Open in the spring semester only.
